Welcome to the Bio-Optics & Optical Engineering Lab!

Bio-Optics & Optical Engineering Lab was founded in 2017 by Dr. Ireneusz Grulkowski. BOEL research lines concentrate on the application of novel optical engineering methods to develop optical imaging modalities.

BOEL mission is to advance imaging instrumentation that enables addressing major challenges of bio-medicine. The activities of Dr. Grulkowski’s team span from the exploration of fundamentals of bio-optics to conducting collaborative studies on medical and biological applications.

BOEL research translates multidisciplinary scientific knowledge from diverse fields like physical optics, optical engineering, biophotonics, data processing. In particular, BOEL specializes in the development of innovative eye imaging techniques that are used in visual optics and ophthalmic diagnostics.

BOEL operates at the Institute of Physics of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun, Poland. Please, explore the website to learn more about our research and projects, the technologies we develop, and the applications.
